This is a great example of a non-automotive use for DI-NOC, there are just an infinite number of applications out there. Suffices to say, this customer is hooked. What kind of unique wraps have you done?

We love to see 3M’s DI-NOC carbon fiber vinyl being used outside of just the automotive world. Things like prototyping, architectural design, technology, refinishing products, and more. The applications for the vinyl are literally unlimited. In the below video we guide you through the steps to wrap a refridgerator in the vinyl, giving it a completely different look than before. While the fridge we used already looked new, imagine taking one that is starting to look outdated, but works just fine. Using the vinyl, you can give it life once again and save money while giving it an updated look.

If you have anything unique that you’ve used 3M’s DI-NOC for, let us know! We’re always looking for the latest and greatest uses.

We just love when we get e-mails from our customers that have installed 3M’s carbon fiber DI-NOC vinyl on a unique item. This time around Rod took his Playstation 3 guitar for Guitar Hero, and wrapped it with the film:

He did a great job, and because of the flat surface, it looks like it was pretty easy to do. The hardest part would be doing a clean cut of the material to match the guitar shape.

Rod is a musician and does plan on wrapping his real acoustic guitar. He had really great things to say about the material:

What I like the most about the material is that is very forgiven and easy to use…. just apply some heat and your can do whatever you like. I used the rest of my material for small things like my credit card and office mouse. The quality of the vinyl is really superb and it looks really nice!

When wrapping the guitar hero guitar with the vinyl, be sure to completely remove the faceplate for easier installation and better finishing.

Behind the guitar there is a button to easily unlock and remove the faceplate.

One of the first things we did when we were trying out the 3M DI-NOC carbon fiber vinyl was cover the lightswitch back plate. We had just painted the office a dark grey, so we though it would match perfectly…and it did Here’s a little run through of what we did:

We used a 12″x12″ 3M DI-NOC CA-421 carbon fiber sheet (although we could have obviously used a much smaller piece), but you can see it in comparison to the switch plate:

First we covered the front of the plate, and trimmed the edges a bit:

Next we pulled the edges and affixed it to the back. We used a heat gun to help stretch the material. This helped to make sure the edges…and especially the corners were taught:

Then we took an exact-o knife and cut out the holes for the light switches. We then pulled the pieces and stuck them on the back:

We didn’t have black screws yet, so we just simply took a sharpie marker for now and colored the screws black:

Here it is installed, it looks great!

Here’s a shot from a little further back:
