Computer Modding With 3M’s Carbon Fiber DI-NOC Vinyl

We love being shown new applications that we don’t initially think of when using 3M’s DI-NOC carbon fiber vinyl.  This time around, Jeff, took his computer modding to the next level by putting together what he calls the CF800.  He used a Corsair 800d case which was modified for water cooling.  He did a ton of stuff, including lighting, but used DI-NOC film to just put the build over the top.  Here’s how the case looked beforehand:\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\nJeff then wrapped certain aspects of the case:\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nHere we can see everything put together, with the motherboard in place as well as the water cooling:\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nFinally we can see the case fully completed.  The side has a plexi-glass window which looks fantastic because just parts of the carbon fiber DI-NOC show through.  In my opinion, it looks much better than doing the entire case exterior.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nFor more pics and information of the setup, take a look at Jeff’s thread on tgyclan.com.

Great job! Had thought about wrapping parts on the exterior of my gunmetal Antec P182, but I like the way it looks, especially when put next to my silver Antec P180. Again, great work, looks like a winner – you can upgrade the Corsair AirFlow fans to include the LED status lights on the AirFlow Pro for some extra lighting too!

  • That’s cool, but can it run Crysis? j/k 😉

  • The CF Film has been making a big splash in the Computer Mod scene. Alot of the Forum Members at Overclock.net are doing their mouse and other accesories as well as entire cases. It would be nice to see this in a few more colors. Red would be nice. Maybe a nice LED Blue? Or even a Lime Green? These would be big hits in the Computer Modding Community! Just a ideas.

We’re with ya, unfortunately as far as we understand there are no plans for more extreme colors at this time.

  • Thats too bad. Oh well. I will be making a purchase before the summer is out of some of this “Wonder Film” to recover my mouse. The Rubberized coating is starting to peel off.

Im doing something similar with my PC, but i was wondering what size sheet you used for this case. I will be doing it with the 650D, and i will be using a 2 toned CF black outside, silver inside.

How do you cover a mouse without the material becoming creased? I could understand using heat, but doesn’t that distort the carbon fiber look or make it want to pull away from the edges?\r\n\r\nI have a pair of Porsche aero mirrors I’d love to do in CF film, but their three-dimensional curve seems too extreme.\r\n\r\nAny help? Thanks.
